KARACHI: The Sindh government has approved a 7.05 percent increase in water and sewerage tariffs of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) for the financial year 2026-27. The revised rates will be applicable from July 1, 2026.
The revised tariff has been formally notified through the Sindh Government Gazette published on Aug 10, according to the notification.
The increase is based on the average Consumer Price Index (CPI) and covers water and sewerage charges for both retail and bulk consumers.
The notification said the KWSC Board had approved the revised tariffs for the new financial year, which were subsequently endorsed and notified by the Sindh government.
Under the revised schedule, monthly water and sewerage charges for residential properties have been determined according to the size of the plot.
The new tariff structure also sets fixed monthly water and sewerage charges for shops and various categories of commercial establishments.
The KWSC said the revision was aimed at strengthening its revenue base and improving its financial capacity to provide sustainable municipal services in the country’s largest city.
The additional resources would help support the operation, maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of Karachi’s water supply and sewerage infrastructure, as well as ensure more sustainable delivery of services, it said.
