Pakistan, Belarus reaffirm commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian Minister for Energy Dzenis Maroz on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen bilateral cooperation and translate agreements into tangible outcomes across various sectors.

The Belarusian minister, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on the prime minister at the Prime Minister House, according to a statement issued by the PM Office.

Welcoming Maroz and his delegation, the prime minister conveyed his warm greetings and good wishes for Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

He recalled President Lukashenko’s visit to Islamabad in November 2024 and his own visit to Belarus in April 2025, saying the visits had further strengthened bilateral ties across areas of mutual interest.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the productive deliberations held during the ninth session of the Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) in Islamabad.

The JMC reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including trade, industry, agriculture, banking, labour, transport and energy.

Both sides expressed confidence that the outcomes of the JMC would translate into tangible benefits for the two countries and further consolidate the growing Pakistan-Belarus partnership.

The Belarusian minister thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings of the Belarusian leadership.

He also briefed the prime minister on the substantive progress made during the JMC meeting.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral coordination and materialize cooperation across all sectors agreed upon by the leadership of Pakistan and Belarus.
