ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equipping the country’s youth with education, skills, jobs and opportunities to compete globally.
In his message in connection with International Youth Day, being observed today (Wednesday), the prime minister said this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reflected young people’s shared hopes for a brighter and more secure future.
He described Pakistan’s youth as an “invaluable national asset”, saying their energy, creativity and determination were already driving progress across sectors.
Sharif said the government was expanding access to quality education, technical and vocational training, employment, entrepreneurship, digital innovation and social inclusion.
Initiatives including scholarships, laptop schemes, paid internships and skills programmes were aimed at aligning young Pakistanis with international standards and global job markets.
He highlighted the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme and the strengthened NAVTTC for industry-focused training and internationally recognised certifications, saying the measures would help build a workforce equipped for the changing demands of technology and industry.
Sharif urged young Pakistanis to pursue their ambitions with “hard work, honesty, responsibility and a spirit of service”, stressing that the country’s sustainable development and prosperity depended on their progress.
He called on youth to play an active role in national development, saying their abilities and aspirations could help build a stronger and brighter Pakistan.
