Asif Ali Zardari

President Islamic Republic of Pakistan

I warmly welcome the signing of the historic Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in the holy city of Makkah. This landmark agreement is an important contribution to peace, security and stability in the region and beyond. I appreciate the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, COAS, in advancing this important initiative. Their efforts have helped translate our longstanding bonds of brotherhood and strategic partnership into a framework for closer cooperation. I am confident that the Makkah Agreement will open a new chapter in our strategic partnership and strengthen our collective contribution to regional peace and stability.

Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister Islamic Republic of Pakistan

Honoured to sign the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement alongside my dear brothers, HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Three brotherly nations, united by faith, friendship and a shared resolve for peace and security. May this historic pact, signed in the shadow of the Haramain, remain a shield of peace for generations to come and may it bring prosperity for our three brotherly countries as well as for the Ummah. I would especially like to express my deep appreciation for Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir whose untiring efforts and utmost dedication contributed immensely towards this great cause.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces

The international community has acknowledged that Pakistan is an undeniable reality and a formidable power in the region. Over the past year, Pakistan’s national stature and prestige have risen remarkably - a transformation increasingly recognised across the world. Alhamdulillah, today our leadership is regarded with respect and esteem in global forums and international councils. Pakistan now enjoys a wider circle of friends and partners across the world than at anytime in its history.

Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister

I extend warm felicitations to the nation on the signing of the “Makkah Joint Defence Agreement” by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. This historic accord reflects the depth of our brotherly bonds, shared values and common commitment to peace, security and stability. I wish to reiterate that the Makkah Accord is defensive in nature. It is not directed against any country. Its purpose is to strengthen collective deterrence against external aggression and reinforce our capacity to defend our sovereignty, territorial integrity and peoples. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the Foreign Office of Pakistan have played pivotal role in bringing this historic Makkah Accord to fruition.
