HYDERABAD: A Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) accreditation team visited to review of the overall academic environment, institutional development, infrastructure, laboratories, conducive learning environment and the B.E. Agricultural Engineering program at the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (FAET), Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam.
The team also reviewed various matters relating to the accreditation of the B.E. Agricultural Engineering program for the 2K22, 2K23, 2K24 and 2K26 batches.
The accreditation team comprised Engr. Dr. Adil Masood Siddiqui, Team Lead/Convener from NUST-MCS Rawalpindi; Engr. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed, Expert from National Institute of Computer Engineering (NICE), Islamabad; Engr. Dr. Syed Imran Ahmed, Expert from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi; Engr. Dr. Sajida Parveen, Program Evaluation Visit (PEV) Observer from Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah; and Engr. Soban Javed, PEC Representative, Hyderabad.
During the visit, the PEC team inspected various laboratories, workshop, libraries, classrooms and other academic and technical facilities. The team members also met students, faculty members and technical support staff and obtained information about the use of engineering tools, software, digital applications and other learning resources available to students.
The PEC team reviewed the academic progress of the program, implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), infrastructure and laboratory facilities, student support facilities and ongoing measures aimed at further strengthening the B.E. Agricultural Engineering program.
On the concluding day of the visit, an exit meeting was held at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, chaired by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal.
During the meeting, the PEC team overall appreciated the academic and laboratory facilities, infrastructure and learning resources available at Sindh Agriculture University. The team also appreciated the university’s efforts to promote quality engineering education, implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE), facilitate students and continuously improve academic and physical facilities in accordance with PEC standards.
The PEC team particularly appreciated the university’s comparatively low tuition fees and observed that the provision of quality higher education at affordable cost was creating greater opportunities for students from different socioeconomic backgrounds, particularly those belonging to rural areas, to pursue professional engineering education.
