ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to unveil “Vision Pakistan 2047” on International Youth Day (August 12, 2026), setting out a long-term national development roadmap centred on sustainable growth, innovation and prosperity, according to an official communication seen by Business Recorder.
The document is expected to outline Pakistan’s long-term development aspirations with a particular focus on empowering the country’s youth as a driver of sustainable economic growth, technological advancement and national prosperity.
In a letter issued by the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), chaired by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, all federal ministries and their attached divisions have been directed to urgently submit their proposed contributions to the national vision, enabling timely compilation before the Prime Minister’s formal announcement.
The communication states that ministries have been asked to consolidate inputs from their attached departments, autonomous bodies and subordinate offices and prepare a comprehensive vision document reflecting their strategic priorities through 2047.
According to the directive, the submissions should include each ministry’s strategic objectives, flagship reforms, key policy commitments and long-term development agenda, while clearly outlining their expected contribution to national development.
The requested proposals are also expected to address a broad range of priorities, including economic transformation, human capital development, technological advancement, environmental sustainability, governance reforms, as well as sector-specific initiatives aligned with the country’s long-term development goals.
Officials said the exercise is aimed at producing a unified national roadmap that aligns ministries around common development objectives and provides a strategic framework for Pakistan’s progress over the next two decades.
The PMYP has asked ministries to ensure that their submissions are forward-looking and measurable, highlighting transformative reforms rather than routine administrative functions. The compiled proposals will be submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration before the official launch of the vision document.
The official letter emphasizes that timely submission of ministerial inputs is essential to facilitate the preparation of the final Vision Pakistan 2047 document ahead of its expected unveiling on August 12.
