PIACL approves performance bonus for employees

Published Updated

KARACHI: The Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) has approved a performance bonus equivalent to one-month basic salary for airline employees, in its 102nd board meeting, the first since the transition to private management.

The decision reflects the new leadership’s immediate priority to invest in human capital and align the workforce with the airline’s broader transformation and growth strategy.

Management said the gesture is aimed at recognizing staff dedication while energizing teams ahead of upcoming operational milestones, route revivals, and service enhancements.

“Our workforce is the backbone of PIACL’s revival,” the chairman of the board said.

“By prioritizing employee welfare and motivation from day one, we are building a foundation of excellence, accountability, and commercial viability to take the national flag carrier to new heights.”

The move marks an early signal from the new management of its intended direction, pointing toward operational reliability, customer-centric service delivery, and sustainable corporate growth as the airline moves further into its post-privatization phase.

New PIA has not yet started service. For what sort of performance this bonus is being given to PIA employees? This is the first sign that PIA is back to square one.
