Dozens of car lifting, theft incidents reported in federal capital
ISLAMABAD: Dozens of car lifting and theft incidents were reported across various police stations in the federal capital last week, depriving dozens of citizens of their valuables.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder, police registered a total of 50 cases of different kinds of crime during the week. Out of total registered, 27 cases are related to vehicles theft, 10 robberies and six street crimes [snatching of mobile phone and cash at gunpoint]. The 27 cases of vehicle theft include 26 motorcycles and one car.
In the same period, criminal gangs were active in the limits of Koral, Ramana, Khanna, Shehzad Town, Industrial Area and Shalimar police stations.
During the period, under review, four cases of auto theft, one case each of street crime and robbery registered at Koral police station, two cases of robbery and one case each of street crime and auto theft reported to Ramana police station and another two cases each of robbery and auto theft registered at Khanna police station.
Furthermore, Industrial area police registered one case of street crime and two cases of auto theft, Ramana police registered two cases of robbery and another two cases of auto theft reported to Noon police station.
Meanwhile, the city police have claimed to check over 651 individuals during citywide search operations in the city. The city police conducted search and combing operations in various areas of the federal capital to curb crime and crackdown on criminal elements during the last few days. During these search operations, a total of 651 individuals, 219 households, 83 shops, 37 hotels, 287 motorcycles and 122 vehicles were thoroughly checked.
Additionally, 15 suspicious individuals and 23 motorcycles were also shifted to the police station for further verification. Moreover, accused involved in the possession of illegal weapons were arrested, and two pistols of various calibres, along with ammunition, were recovered.
