LAHORE: Commercial Ambassador Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) Adeel Munawar has said that continued development of Gwadar under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is laying the foundation for Pakistan to emerge as a regional trade, logistics, and investment hub.

Referring to the findings of Pakistan’s Economic Survey 2025–26, Adeel Munawar stated that Gwadar has entered a new phase of development where modern infrastructure, improved connectivity, industrial expansion, and energy projects are collectively enhancing Pakistan’s economic competitiveness.

Addressing a meeting at the PCJCCI Secretariat on on Thursday, he said the completion of the Eastbay Expressway has significantly improved connectivity between Gwadar Port, the Free Zones, and the Makran Coastal Highway, reducing transportation costs and improving the efficiency of cargo movement.

He appreciated the government’s efforts to connect the New Gwadar International Airport with the port and free zones, describing the initiative as a major step towards establishing integrated sea-air logistics operations capable of attracting international trade and investment.

Adeel highlighted the steady progress in the Gwadar Free Zone, where master planning and feasibility work for more than 2,281 acres has been completed while construction of industrial units continues. He observed that the presence of regular international shipping services demonstrates growing confidence in Gwadar’s commercial potential and reflects the success of long-term planning under CPEC. The proposed 40 MW power project, along with plans to solarise 24 pumping stations and one desalination plant through a 9.7 MW solar photovoltaic system with battery energy storage, will strengthen Gwadar’s energy security, lower operational costs, and promote environmentally sustainable development, he observed.

He added that stronger public-private collaboration, investor-friendly policies, and continued Pakistan-China cooperation will be instrumental in unlocking Gwadar’s full economic potential.
