Foreign exchange reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) declined by $229 million to $17.03 billion during the week ended July 24, 2026, mainly due to external debt repayments, the central bank said on Thursday.
In its weekly reserves statement, the SBP said the country’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.44 billion as of July 24, 2026. Of these, commercial banks held $5.41 billion in net foreign exchange reserves.
“During the week ended on 24-Jul-2026, SBP’s FX reserves decreased by US$229 million to US$17,029.9 million. The decline in SBP’s FX reserves is due to external debt repayments,” the central bank said.
The latest data showed that the country’s total liquid foreign reserves amounted to $22.44 billion, comprising $17.03 billion held by the SBP and $5.41 billion maintained by commercial banks.
