Curriculum of Daanish schools: PM for incorporating IT, AI, robotics technologies

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed authorities to incorporate information technology, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and other emerging technologies into the curriculum of Daanish schools currently under construction.

Presiding over the first meeting of the Daanish Authority Board (DAB), the prime minister called for the timely completion of ongoing school projects and directed that all newly established and under-construction Daanish schools be equipped with full boarding facilities.

He said the government’s foremost priority was to ensure equal educational opportunities for children belonging to economically disadvantaged sections of society.

The Daanish schools, he added, were designed to provide deserving students access to quality education purely on merit.

The prime minister directed that the technology-focused curriculum be prepared in consultation with the Ministry of Information Technology.

He also stressed the need for greater emphasis on project-based and skills-oriented learning, alongside courses aimed at enhancing students’ personality development.

The meeting was informed that 29 Daanish schools are planned across Pakistan, with 15 already approved and construction underway at 13 locations. Academic activities have commenced at the Daanish School in Kuri, Islamabad.

Officials told the board that Daanish schools in Bagh and Bhimber in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Ghanche, Sultanabad and Astore in Gilgit-Baltistan, are expected to be completed by December. Classes at these institutions are scheduled to begin in April 2027.

The board approved the establishment of an international-standard teachers’ training institute for Daanish schools, which will also serve as a model for teacher training institutions across the country.

The meeting was also briefed on the proposed administrative structure of the Daanish Authority. The prime minister directed officials to keep the structure lean and ensure minimal administrative expenditure.

The board gave in-principle approval to the Daanish School Authority Rules, Managing Director Rules and other related regulations. It also approved the transfer of land allocated for Daanish schools to the authority.
