LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC)-III on Wednesday directed the relevant authorities to expedite the recovery of outstanding government dues amounting to Rs 9.517 billion while ordering detailed investigations into financial irregularities worth Rs 926.609 million identified in the audit of District Health Authorities South Punjab.
The committee, chaired by MPA Rana Tanveer Aslam, reviewed the audit reports of District Health Authorities (South Punjab) for the financial year 2022-23. During the meeting, the committee examined 131 out of a total of 276 audit paras. Of these, 66 audit observations involving the non-recovery of government receivables worth Rs 9.517 billion were taken up for detailed scrutiny.
The remaining 65 audit paras, relating to alleged financial irregularities amounting to Rs 926.609 million were referred to the relevant administrative department for comprehensive investigations.
The committee also directed the department concerned to ensure the earliest possible recovery of the outstanding government dues and submit progress on the matter. It was further decided in the meeting that the remaining audit paras included in the audit reports would be taken up during the committee’s next sitting. The meeting was attended by PML-N Chief Whip Rana Arshad, Raja Shaukat Bhatti and other committee members, along with officials of the departments concerned.
