ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government, via the Petroleum Division, has announced an increase in the prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for July 23 following the latest daily price review of petroleum products.

The petrol price is up by Rs 6.39 per litre, rising from Rs 320.73 to Rs 327.12 per litre, whereas, High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is up by Rs 7.83 per litre, rising from Rs 367.21 to Rs 375.04 per litre.

According to a statement issued by the Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices based on the government’s updated petroleum pricing mechanism.

Over the last two consecutive price revisions, the cumulative increase stands at Rs 11.32 per litre for petrol and Rs 14.98 per litre for HSD. Meanwhile, the petroleum levy remains unchanged at Rs 80 per litre on petrol and Rs 70.82 per litre on HSD. Climate Support Levy (CSL) is maintained at Rs 5 per litre. Custom Duty is set at Rs 17.28 per litre on petrol and Rs 15.68 per litre on HSD and Premium (incl. Freight) is held steady at USD 10.98 per barrel for petrol and USD 5.1 per barrel for HSD.

In a related development, the All Pakistan Petrol Pumps Owners Association and the All Pakistan Dealers Association have deferred their planned protest for two weeks following assurances from the Petroleum Division regarding an increase in dealer margins and commissions.

Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik confirmed that the division will formulate recommendations in consultation with industry stakeholders before submitting them to the Prime Minister for final approval.

The hike reflects sharp increases in the Arab Gulf Platts seven-day average. International petrol prices rose to USD 104.48 per barrel (up from USD 100.82 per bbl on Wednesday), while HSD surged to USD 144.90 per barrel (up from USD 140.42.
