KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will provide land for the establishment of a state-of-the-art NADRA Centre in District South of the megacity.

This is a significant move to strengthen public service delivery and improve access to identity registration facilities.

The decision was taken during a meeting between Mayor and Director General NADRA Sindh Aamir Ali Khan, where both sides discussed expanding NADRA’s network across the city to improve citizen services and enhance institutional cooperation.

Under the agreement, KMC will allocate its land on Shahrah-e-Liaquat for the construction of the modern NADRA Centre, which will offer citizens faster, more efficient and high-quality identity registration and documentation services at a centrally located facility.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Wahab said Karachi’s fast-growing population has substantially increased the demand for NADRA services, which demands for establishment of additional centres across the megacity.

“We are committed to improving public services through practical initiatives. The city administration and KMC are taking concrete steps to strengthen civic infrastructure and ensure better service delivery for Karachi’s residents,” he said.

Describing Saddar as the city’s commercial and business heart, the Mayor noted that thousands of residents, traders and visitors travel to the area every day. The new NADRA Centre on Shahrah-e-Liaquat will not only serve the residents of District South but will provide convenient access to citizens and the business community from across Karachi.

Mayor Wahab reaffirmed KMC’s commitment to supporting the establishment of additional NADRA centres in other districts, saying the civic body would extend every possible cooperation to ensure people across Karachi have access to convenient, efficient and modern identity registration services.

He said the initiative reflects the city administration’s broader commitment to improving essential public services and meeting the growing needs of Karachi’s expanding population.
