ISLAMABAD: Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that all proceedings/hearings of cases against the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will be conducted online.
According to an office order of the FTO issued on Wednesday, in continuation of FTO office earlier instructions issued dated June 1, 2026, the FTO has issued the following instructions for immediate compliance.
Now onwards all proceedings/hearings at FTO HQs and Regional offices shall be conducted online unless both or either of the litigant parties option writing for personal/physical hearings.
While asking for para-wise comments and issuing notices for hearing by
FTO office both complainant and FBR’s concerned field formations shall be given both options: Online or personalized hearing.
Notwithstanding the above, in selected complaints, involving complicated legal and procedural issues, personal hearing shall be continued.
While the FTO’s Secretariat extends this facilitating arm to all field formations of FBR, in return it expects an enhanced level of timely response and utmost cooperation from FBR, for smooth fast track proceedings.
Admin/IT wings shall ensure that seamless, smooth and uninterrupted online communications facilitate the said decision of the FTO, FTO order added.
