KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Local Government, Housing and Town Planning, Nasir Hussain Shah, chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects in Karachi.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, Local Government, Director General Karachi Development Authority (KDA), representatives of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO), and other concerned officials.

The meeting reviewed the progress of various development schemes, discussed bottlenecks, and considered measures for their timely completion. Expressing concerns over the Karimabad Underpass, Nasir Hussain Shah directed the authorities to immediately remove all encroachments around the underpass to ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience.

He instructed that all remaining works related to the underpass be completed without delay and emphasized that all allied development schemes connected with major projects should also be completed simultaneously.

The meeting also reviewed the development work from Mauripur Road Y Junction to Machhli Chowk, with the minister directing the relevant authorities to expedite the pace of work. Nasir Hussain Shah said the timely completion of development projects would significantly improve traffic management and provide better civic facilities to the people of Karachi.

The meeting also discussed matters relating to transfers and postings of officers and employees in the Local Government Department. The minister directed that strict action be taken against officers violating departmental policy or failing to comply with official orders. He further instructed that officers and employees awaiting postings should be posted immediately and that no employee should be harassed without valid reason.

Nasir Hussain Shah said the Sindh Government is committed to transforming Karachi into a model metropolitan city in line with the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, adding that all development projects are being pursued on a priority basis to improve public services and urban infrastructure.
