Govt committed to ensuring citizens’ easy access to justice: Lanjar
KARACHI: The government of Sindh on Friday reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring free, accessible and speedy justice for all citizens.
It celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Sindh Legal Advisory Call Centre (SLACC), Pakistan’s largest free legal assistance helpline, and launched its Annual Report 2025–26.
Speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony held at a local hotel to mark the International Day of Justice, Sindh Minister for Home, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Criminal Prosecution Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar described discrimination in inheritance rights—particularly against women—as one of the most persistent injustices in society. Legal awareness and accessible legal services were essential to protecting citizens’ rights, he added.
He said initiatives such as the Sindh Legal Advisory Call Centre had significantly improved access to free, prompt and confidential legal assistance for victims of injustice and discrimination. Lanjar emphasised that public participation and support were crucial for the success of government initiatives aimed at strengthening the rule of law and ensuring equal access to justice.
Appreciating the performance of SLACC, he noted that the helpline had received and addressed hundreds of thousands of legal complaints and inquiries over the past decade, providing timely legal guidance to people across the country.
The Minister assured the government’s full support for the further expansion and modernization of the call centre, including upgrading its facilities to enhance outreach and service delivery.
