LAHORE: As per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, provision of quality treatment, excellent cleanliness, functional medical facilities and a dignified environment to patients in government hospitals is the top priority of the government.
“No negligence or omission will be tolerated in providing high-quality medical facilities to the public,” provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said during a surprise visit to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital, Gujrat.
The provincial minister listened to the issues of the patients and resolved them on the spot and called the senior faculty on duty late at night. He conducted a detailed review of the cleanliness, sanitation and overall administrative affairs in the hospital. Khawaja Salman Rafique also inspected the functioning of Air Conditioners (ACs) and fans in various wards and issued instructions to ensure the provision of a suitable environment for the patients.
The provincial health minister inspected various departments including the emergency, blood bank and medical ward and visited the patients under treatment. He inquired about the treatment and available medical facilities from the patients. He issued instructions to the doctors, nursing and paramedical staff to ensure the provision of quality, timely and patient-friendly medical services.
Moreover, Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired a meeting regarding the reporting of medico-legal cases in government teaching hospitals. Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood attended the meeting. MSs of all teaching hospitals also participated through video link. Surgeon Medico-Legal Punjab presented a report on recent visits to teaching hospitals.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the process of issuing medico-legal reports in teaching hospitals should be ensured under an online system. MSs should show responsibility in this regard. Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood said that manual medico-legal reports will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
