Pakistan Customs Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement (IPRE) has recorded another productive year, safeguarding intellectual property rights and strengthening border enforcement across Pakistan.

According to the annual performance statistics, the Directorate General (IPRE) recorded 201 IPR forfeiture/seizure cases during FY 2025-26, compared with 162 cases in the previous year, representing an overall 24% increase in enforcement actions. The offending goods are valued at Rs 7.7 billion and include counterfeit luxury goods, textiles, auto parts, cosmetics, footwear, consumer durables, amongst others.

Beyond enforcement activities, the Directorate General continued to strengthen awareness and stakeholder engagement by conducting 30 awareness sessions and seminars nationwide. These programmes brought together Customs officers, chambers of commerce, importers, exporters, traders, customs clearing agents, and other stakeholders to enhance understanding of intellectual property rights, border enforcement procedures, and the importance of protecting legitimate trade.

Mr Abdul Qadir Memon, Directorate General IPRE, stated that Pakistan Customs remains committed to further strengthening border enforcement mechanisms through capacity building, the adoption of modern risk management techniques, technological innovation, and sustained engagement with domestic and international stakeholders to prevent the trade in counterfeit and pirated goods.
