PESHAWAR: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued notices to 1,152 suspected Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) holders in various parts of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to official sources on Sunday, the list includes individuals whose citizenship status, family records, or other personal information have raised concerns for NADRA officials.
The verification process also includes the scrutiny of some suspected Afghan refugees.
Under the directives issued by NADRA’s Regional Headquarters, all notified individuals have been instructed to appear before the relevant NADRA board within two weeks and provide documents to verify their identity.
The officials stated that failure to appear within the stipulated period could result in the blocking of CNICs. Further legal action may also be taken after a detailed examination of the records.
Statistics show that the highest number of suspected cases, 874, belong to Peshawar, followed by 192 in Charsadda, 81 in Tank, two in Torghar and one individual from Jhelum.
NADRA officials said the verification exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure transparency, accuracy and integrity in the national identity database.
