LAHORE: The Punjab budget 2026-27 prioritizes the completion of ongoing high-impact projects, preservation of essential public services and targeted interventions capable of generating long-term economic and social returns.
The budget places particular emphasis on investments that strengthen economic competitiveness, human capital and productivity.
Priority has been accorded to initiatives capable of generating sustainable economic dividends and preparing Punjab for future growth opportunities. As per budget document, the government continues to invest in youth development through programs aimed at enhancing employability, technical skills, innovation and entrepreneurship, recognizing the province’s young population as a key driver of economic progress.
As per budget document, the Punjab government has adopted a disciplined approach that safeguards critical investments while maintaining fiscal sustainability. Complementing these efforts, the Economic Transformation initiative seeks to address structural constraints within the provincial economy by promoting value addition, industrial competitiveness, productivity enhancement, and export-oriented growth. Together, these interventions are intended to support Punjab’s transition towards a more diversified, innovation-driven, and globally competitive economy while fostering employment generation and private-sector-led growth.
Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority Hina Pervaiz Butt has expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for allocating funds in the Punjab Budget 2026-27 for major initiatives aimed at the protection, education and welfare of women across the province.
Under the directions of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Budget 2026-27 includes funding for the establishment of Violence Against Women Protection Divisional Centres and Punjab Women Protection Authority offices in Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. In addition, funds have been allocated for the construction of Women Protection Centres in Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur, she added.
She appreciated the allocation of funds for the establishment of women’s universities in Sialkot and Dera Ghazi Khan, as well as Working Women Hostels in various cities. She noted that these initiatives would significantly enhance opportunities for women’s education, empowerment, and access to safe accommodation.
She remarked that the education, protection and welfare of women have remained a key priority of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Under her leadership, the Punjab government is taking transformative steps to empower women and ensure a safer and more inclusive environment for them.
