KARACHI: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Sunday as part of Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to facilitate a resolution between Tehran and Washington.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, follows Naqvi’s arrival in Tehran on Saturday, where he also met with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, according to Iranian media.

During the meeting, Naqvi delivered a special letter from Field Marshal Asim Munir for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

Naqvi and Araghchi also discussed the ongoing US-Iran diplomatic process, exploring avenues to facilitate progress in negotiations.

Speaking after the discussions, Naqvi emphasised the close ties between Pakistan and Iran.

“Iran and Pakistan share fraternal relations, and when a problem arises for one brother, the other brother feels it too. We hope these crises will end soon through the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir,” he said.

Naqvi expressed gratitude to senior Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Araghchi, noting hopes for a positive outcome.

He also highlighted the purpose of his visit, revealing that he had delivered a special letter from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir to Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

“I believe this message is highly important. I hope everything goes well and concludes successfully,” Naqvi added.
