Pakistan’s coalition government is likely to unveil the federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 on June 10, after key allies agreed to recommend the date to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during pre-budget consultations focused on spending priorities and economic policy, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The decision was made during a meeting of Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb with senior PPP leaders as part of routine consultations ahead of the federal budget.

The discussions focused on current and development expenditure priorities, including the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), as well as broader economic objectives for FY2026-27, Dar said on X.

The participants reviewed issues related to fiscal sustainability, public welfare measures, development initiatives and strategies aimed at promoting inclusive economic growth.

The meeting unanimously agreed to recommend to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the federal budget for FY2026-27 be presented on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

The consultation was attended by Murad Ali Shah, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Saleem Mandviwalla, Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and other senior officials.

The meeting was part of the government’s ongoing engagement with coalition partners and key stakeholders as it finalises budgetary proposals for the upcoming fiscal year amid efforts to maintain fiscal discipline while supporting economic growth and development.
