ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has said that there are no pending cases related to pre-arrest or post-arrest bail at its principal seat in Islamabad.
According to a press release issued by the Supreme Court PRO, 226 pre-arrest and post-arrest bail cases were fixed for hearing before the court during the past two weeks.
It further said that 109 bail matters were fixed before the bench headed by Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan with effect from 11-05-25, reflecting the Court’s continued emphasis on the expeditious disposal of liberty-related cases.
The statement maintained that the Supreme Court remains committed to ensuring accessible, efficient, and timely justice, particularly in matters directly affecting citizens’ liberty, while upholding the rule of law and constitutional guarantees. In this regard, the Court accords the highest priority to cases involving bail before arrest and post-arrest bail, ensuring their prompt hearing and disposal.
These matters are being fixed and heard strictly in accordance with the fixation policy issued by the Supreme Court, with a view to ensuring timely adjudication and safeguarding the constitutional rights of litigants.
Meanwhile, Pir Muhammad Masood Chishti, Vice-Chairman, Munir Ahmed Malik, Chairman, Executive Committee, and the Members of the Pakistan Bar Council, have strongly condemned the suicide blasts near the railway track in Quetta, 25 May, which led to the martyrdom of many persons and injuries to more than two dozen.
While expressing their deep grief and sorrow over such an inhumane and heinous act of terrorism, they said that such-minded people are seeking to disrupt Pakistan’s stability and development and to undermine the initiatives that serve global peace and progress.
They expressed their serious concerns about the growing wave of terrorism in Balochistan, termed it a conspiracy of external forces against the state, and said that it looks like their aim and ulterior motive is to sabotage the peaceful situation in Balochistan province through terrorism and would create chaos and instability in the country.
They call upon the government, all political parties, and other stakeholders to recognise that this is time for unity and harmony to become a Pakistani and resolve to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country through mutual consent. They demanded that the federal and Balochistan governments conduct an investigation immediately and take punitive action against the culprits.
They prayed for the high ranks for the departed souls and expressed condolences for the bereaved families to bear the losses of their dears with fortitude and early recovery of the injured.
