Khalil Hashmi visits Yangzhou

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, visited Yangzhou, signaling Islamabad’s push to deepen investment ties and accelerate technology-led transformation of its agriculture sector through closer engagement with Chinese industry.

During meetings with local leadership, including Party Secretary Wang Jinjian and Mayor Zheng Haitao, the envoy emphasized expanding B2B trade, leveraging the Punjab–Jiangsu sister province mechanism, and launching investment roadshows to facilitate enterprise partnerships.

A key highlight of the visit was engagement with FAMSUN, where the ambassador explored collaboration in agricultural modernization, agro-processing, and dairy sectors. He also addressed the China-Pakistan Agricultural Modernization and Food Security Innovation Forum, underscoring Pakistan’s focus on mechanization, resilient supply chains, and digital farming.

Hashmi invited Chinese firms to invest in precision agriculture, cold-chain logistics, and IT, while also encouraging participation in an upcoming investment conference in Hangzhou.

Yangzhou, a major industrial hub with over USD100 billion GDP, is being positioned as a key partner in Pakistan’s push for technology-driven agricultural transformation and expanded trade ties with China.
