ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) on Tuesday signed an agreement to develop two sections of the M6 Hyderabad–Sukkur Motorway under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

ADB Country Director for Pakistan Emma Fan and Member PPP NHA Ijaz Ahmed signed the agreement - witnessed by Member Planning NHA Dr Shafeeq Ahmad, Syed Hussain Haider, ADB Deputy Country Director, and Mohammed Azim Hashimi, Director, Advisory Division 1, OMDP ADB.

The project will connect the missing link in Pakistan’s North-South high-speed road connectivity, streamline logistics, reduce travel time, and strengthen trade flows across the country.

The ADB will provide advisory support covering project feasibility studies, developing a bankable PPP structure, facilitating transparent procurement processes to attract private sector expertise, and achieving commercial and financial closure.

The project includes building a 120km six-lane motorway with modern tolling, traffic management, and safety systems starting from Hyderabad.

It’s a critical step toward completing the Peshawar–Karachi Motorway corridor.
