LAHORE: The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party on Tuesday decided to field candidates on all seats in the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan General Elections 2026, while constituting a high-powered parliamentary board to finalise ticket allocations.
The decision was taken at a key meeting chaired by party president Abdul Aleem Khan, where senior leadership reviewed the political landscape and outlined a comprehensive strategy for the polls scheduled on June 7.
The meeting approved the formation of a 20-member Parliamentary Election Board, which will oversee candidate selection and grant final approvals. Participants discussed prospective candidates from various constituencies, evaluating their local influence and electoral viability in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Parliamentary Board, constituted with the approval of Abdul Aleem Khan, includes Mian Khalid Mahmood, Aoun Chaudhry, Munazza Hassan, Gul Asghar Baghoor, Syed Samsam Ali Bukhari, G.G. Jamal, Rana Nazeer Ahmed, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din, Chaudhry Nauriz Shakoor, Syed Rafaqat Ali Gilani, Raja Yawar Kamal, Mamoon Jafar Tarar, Haji Gulbar Khan, Raja Jalal Hussain, Shams-ul-Haq Lone, Fatahullah Khan, Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqui, Ghazanfar Abbas Chheena and Malik Zaman Naseeb.
Among those present at the meeting were Secretary General Mian Khalid Mahmood, Punjab President Rana Nazeer Ahmed Khan, Lahore Division President Malik Zaman Naseeb and Mian Taimur Khalid.
Party leaders expressed confidence in securing strong results, emphasising that effective planning and policy direction could transform the northern region into a major tourism hub. The meeting also underscored that residents of Gilgit-Baltistan are entitled to basic facilities comparable to other provinces, a commitment the party pledged to incorporate into its manifesto.
It was further decided that the names of candidates would be finalised shortly, subject to approval by the parliamentary board. Leaders conveyed optimism that the party’s agenda would resonate with voters and translate into substantial electoral support.
