Pakistan’s role in ongoing regional conflict: MOFA labels media reports claims as ‘baseless insinuations’

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Saturday categorically rejected recent media reports and social media claims regarding Pakistan’s role in the ongoing regional conflict, labelling them as baseless insinuations.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi responded queries concerning reports that cited “official government sources” to suggest specific developments in peace and dialogue efforts.

The Spokesperson dismissed claims attributed to purported official sources as “incorrect” and a “figment of imagination”. He however expressed serious concern over the misrepresentation of a briefing held at the Ministry on Friday, clarifying that the issues being reported were neither discussed nor alluded to during that session.

MOFA underscored that diplomacy demands both discretion and responsibility.

The FO spokesperson has urged all media platforms to exercise due diligence and avoid speculative reporting. It advised media outlets to rely exclusively on official statements and verified readouts to ensure the dissemination of accurate information.
