KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Saturday said the provincial government will expand support to non-governmental organisations and charities through public-private partnerships to improve access to healthcare, education and livelihoods for low-income communities.
He was speaking at the 18th Annual CSR Summit and Awards-2026 here, organised by the National Forum for Environment and Health.
Shah said welfare organisations were playing a vital role in reaching vulnerable communities and deserved greater institutional and financial backing.
He cited partnerships with institutions such as the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, and Indus Hospital and Health Network as examples of successful models delivering free or subsidised healthcare to underserved populations.
Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, speaking on the occasion, said Karachi had a strong tradition of philanthropy and noted ongoing collaboration with governments on public health and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Abdul Bari Khan, founder of the Indus Hospital network, thanked the Sindh government for supporting expansion of healthcare services under the partnership model.
