ISLAMABAD: In a move aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens following a rise in petroleum prices, the federal government has announced free public transport services across the capital for one month.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared the development on the social media platform X, stating that, on the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, all public transport in Islamabad will be available free of cost for the next 30 days, starting from Saturday.

The initiative, estimated to cost Rs. 350 million, will be financed by the Ministry of Interior. Authorities have been instructed to ensure the immediate implementation of the decision.

According to the minister, the step has been taken to provide relief to the public facing financial pressure due to increasing fuel prices.
