ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that Pakistan is committed to facilitating international investors, particularly in the information technology sector, as the country seeks to expand digital services and economic growth.

PM Sharif made the remarks during a meeting with Kaan Terzioglu, Chief Executive Officer of global digital operator VEON Group, and his delegation, said a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Pakistan aims to ensure transparency while embracing digitalisation across its economic sectors,” Sharif said, highlighting the recent auction of 5G spectrum to local telecom operators and ongoing coordination among relevant agencies to improve internet services nationwide.

He also underscored the potential of Pakistan’s young population to contribute to the economy through information technology and digital platforms, noting that growing interest in the sector is drawing foreign investment.

Terzioglu said his company intends to expand investment in Pakistan and welcomed government initiatives to promote a cashless and fully digital economy.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima, Jazz World CEO Amir Ibrahim, and other senior officials.
