ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the drone attacks carried out on Friday night by Afghan Taliban elements targeting civilian areas in Pakistan.
“The illegitimate Afghan regime, installed through terror and brute force, continues to break its promises by providing safe havens to terrorist groups. Now, it has crossed a dangerous line by attacking our civilians,” the President said in a statement on Saturday.
He added that while the Taliban regime seeks negotiations with friendly countries, targeting Pakistani civilians is unacceptable, especially as Pakistan works to promote peace and stability in the Gulf and West Asia.
“By crossing this red line, the terrorist regime has brought serious consequences upon itself,” he warned. President Zardari expressed his heartfelt wishes for the speedy recovery of children and other civilians injured in Quetta, Kohat, and Rawalpindi. He also reaffirmed that
Pakistan’s armed forces and security institutions remain fully committed to defending the country and protecting its people.
