LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to take indiscriminate action against individuals running campaigns against judges on social media.
The court passed this order in a petition of a bar member Parvez Elahi Bhaddar seeking action against the individuals running campaign against judiciary.
The court observed that it appeared the NCCIA officials were working for financial interest and acting against wealthy YouTubers only.
The NCCIA DG informed the court that eleven suspects involved in contempt of the judiciary had been arrested.
He said 200 links and 79 social media accounts had also been examined.
He further told the court that NCCIA previously had 74 IT officers on contract, but their contracts had expired.
He also informed the court that five teams had been formed to conduct cyber patrolling.
The court after hearing the officials in details adjourned the proceedings and sought a compliance report by next hearing.
