ISLAMABAD: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is likely to convene an emergency meeting of its Executive Committee at the level of foreign ministers on Thursday, February 26, in Jeddah to discuss Israel’s recent actions and overall situation in the Middle East.
Diplomatic sources said that Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, is likely to travel to Jeddah on Wednesday to participate in what is being described as a crucial emergency meeting. The meeting will focus on recent actions by the Israeli occupation, including settlement expansion, annexation, and attempts to assert sovereignty over the occupied West Bank. The session aims to coordinate positions among member states and explore measures to confront these actions.
So far, neither the Foreign Office nor the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has issued any statement regarding the upcoming OIC Executive Committee session.
According to diplomatic sources, the meeting comes in response to recent developments in the Middle East and Palestinian territories. It is expected that the session will strongly condemn Israel’s recent actions to declare lands in the occupied West Bank as illegal Israeli property.
Ishaq Dar is expected to deliver a strong condemnation of Israel’s unlawful decisions and policies on behalf of Pakistan, while participating nations will discuss a coordinated strategy to oppose Israeli measures, fuelling unrest in the region.
