KARACHI: The 18th lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony of the MBJ School of Nursing was held at Kharadar General Hospital (KGH) marking a significant milestone for the graduating nursing cohort and reaffirming the institution’s enduring commitment to excellence in healthcare education.

The event was graced by Dr Gauhar Ejaz, HI, SI (Civil), former federal minister for Commerce, Industry & Production, as the chief guest. In his address, Dr Gauhar Ejaz expressed deep admiration for the hospital’s dedicated services and its state-of-the-art nursing school. He emphasised that true societal progress begins with improving the lives of the common people, highlighting the transformative power of charity, Zakat and facilitating others in the path of Allah.

He acknowledged the pivotal role played by NGOs and philanthropists in advancing education and healthcare in Pakistan and commended M Bashir Jan Muhammad, President of Kharadar General Hospital, for upholding the institution’s century-long legacy of providing quality medical and educational services to underprivileged communities. Dr Gauhar Ejaz also underscored the growing global demand for nursing professionals, describing nursing as both a noble and dignified profession that significantly improves lives worldwide.

President, KGH and philanthropist Muhammad Bashir Janmuhammad reaffirmed the hospital’s steadfast commitment to excellence in education, research and healthcare delivery. He praised the dedication and compassion of the hospital’s skilled staff and highlighted the outstanding performance of the Nursing School, along with plans for its future expansion.

The ceremony culminated in the symbolic lamp lighting and oath-taking, where the student nurses pledged to provide compassionate, ethical, and high-quality healthcare. The solemn ritual reflected their commitment to uphold the highest standards of the nursing profession.

Distinguished guests including Arif Habib, Khalid Tawab, Haji Ghani Haji Usman, Dr Dabeer Ahmed Khan, and Mian Zahid Hussain attended the event, celebrating the achievements of the nursing students and commending the hospital’s continued contributions to community welfare.
