Published Updated

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a spell of rain, wind, and thunderstorms ahead of Ramadan across the southern parts of the country, including Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta, starting from February 16.

According to the Met Office, a shallow westerly wave is expected to approach western Pakistan on Monday evening. Under the influence of this weather system, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are anticipated in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, and several other districts across Balochistan from the night of February 16 through February 17.

In Sindh, similar weather conditions are expected on February 17, affecting Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Dadu, Sukkur, and Larkana. The PMD has also warned of gusty and dust-raising winds across these regions during this period.

Furthermore, light to moderate rainfall is forecast for Waziristan, Bannu, D.I. Khan, and Kurram on February 16 and 17. Isolated areas in Southern Punjab, including Multan, D.G. Khan, Bhakkar, and Bahawalpur, may experience light rain or drizzle accompanied by dusty winds.

The Met Office has also issued a hailstorm warning for north Balochistan, D.I. Khan, and D.G. Khan during the forecast period.

Meanwhile, the PMD has advised farmers to make necessary arrangements for their crops during the forecast period.
