LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Aalia Neelum on Saturday administered oath to 11 judges recently confirmed by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).
The judges appointed as permanent judges of the LHC include Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Justice Malik Javid Iqbal Wains, Justice Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Justice Khalid Ishaq, Justice Malik Awais Khalid, Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood, Justice Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, and Justice Abher Gul Khan.
The JCP had recommended an extension of the term of Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa for six months, while Justice Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan was not confirmed.

At present, the LHC is working with 42 judges against the constitutionally sanctioned strength of 60.
The ceremony was attended by the judges, Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, federal and provincial law officers, members of the Pakistan and Punjab Bar Councils, office-bearers of the Lahore High Court Bar Association and Lahore Bar Association, and family members of the newly confirmed judges.
