ISLAMABAD: The Inland Revenue Service Officers Association (IRSOA) has expressed its deep concern over the attempted registration of an FIR by a lawyer against one of its serving Commissioner Inland Revenue on allegation of use of threatening language against the lawyer.

According to the details released by the IRSOA here on Saturday, the Writ Petition has been filed against order u/s 22B of Pakistan’s Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to register FIR and stay has been granted by Lahore High Court.

IRSOA placed on record its unequivocal, resolute, and unwavering solidarity with the concerned Commissioner, who is a dedicated, professional, and upright member of the Inland Revenue Service and has consistently discharged official duties strictly in accordance with law and established procedures.

The association firmly believes that Commissioners entrusted with sensitive statutory responsibilities must not be subjected to malicious or retaliatory actions intended to undermine their authority or integrity through misuse of criminal proceedings.

At the same time, IRSOA reiterates its complete respect for the rule of law and the judicial process. The Association maintains that any allegation must be examined objectively, fairly and strictly in accordance with due process, and no officer should be condemned or penalized without proper inquiry and adjudication by the competent forum.

The association urges the relevant authorities to take effective measures to ensure institutional protection for the Commissioner and other officers acting in good faith in the discharge of their official responsibilities.

IRSOA will continue to stand firmly by its members, extend all lawful and institutional support, and fully cooperate with any lawful, impartial, and transparent investigation conducted by the competent authorities, IRS Officers Association added.
