Punjab Property Act 2025 suspension: Legal fraternity supports LHC’s decision
LAHORE: The legal fraternity supported the Lahore High Court’s decision of suspending the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Act 2025.
The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) and the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), welcomed the decision by the chief justice LHC.
In their separate statements, the bodies said the whole legal fraternity stood by the high court in its decision against an ‘unconstitutional’ law. They alleged that the suspended law was in fact introduced to strengthen the land mafia.
Pakistan Bar Council’s member Ahsan Bhoon, urged the chief minister to withdraw her statement regarding the suspension of the property ownership law.
Talking to the media at the Lahore High Court, Bhoon said the chief minister’s statement about the chief justice was inappropriate.
He warned that if the government did not stop its actions regarding the property law, lawyers would take to the streets.
LHCBA President Asif Nissoana, also asked the government to refrain from pleasing the land mafia.
