LAHORE: The Punjab government is building a 915-bed state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore at a cost of Rs72 billion. The work is going on day and night on the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research.
The seventh meeting of the Board of Governors of Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research was held at the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Chairman Board and former Chief Secretary Punjab Captain Zahid Saeed (retd).
The meeting was attended by Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Azmat Mahmood Khan, Secretary Health and Population Department Nadia Saqib. Dr Adnan Khan, Additional Secretary Finance Khurram Aziz, Member Health P&D Shafaat Ali, Shahid Imtiaz from the Law Department and other officers participated through video link.
Khawaja Salman Rafique and Captain Zahid Saeed (retd) reviewed the progress of the under-construction Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research, HR and other matters in detail. A 06-point agenda was presented and approved in the meeting. On this occasion, the minutes of the sixth meeting of the Board of Governors were approved.
On this occasion, the progress and implementation report on the decisions of the sixth meeting were also reviewed. In the meeting, IDAP gave a briefing on the progress on the inclusion of Nursing College and Nursing Hostel and Admin Block. The meeting reviewed the progress of interview for appointment to the post of Dean. The meeting was briefed on the procurement process. During the meeting, the regulations of Human Resource of the centre were approved.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said on this occasion that the IDAP has been directed to make the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research project functional on time. Every work that improves the lives of the people is the top priority of the Punjab government, he said, adding: “Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is being made paperless.”
Chairman Board Captain Zahid Saeed (retd) said on this occasion that a fixed time target has been given for the completion of the first phase of the cancer hospital.
Secretary Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood Khan said on this occasion that implementation of all decisions taken in the meeting should be ensured.
