ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Gen Syed Marshal Asim Munir on Sunday reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening military ties with Jordan, emphasising a shared vision for regional stability and peace.
The remarks came during a visit by Jordan’s King Abdullah II to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges near Jhelum, according to a statement by the military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The army chief described the relationship between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom as a “strong defence partnership.”

King Abdullah, who arrived in Pakistan on Saturday for a two-day official visit, toured Global Industrial and Defence Solutions (GIDS), a state-owned conglomerate that exports and markets military, industrial, and technological products.
He was accompanied by Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials, and was received by Field Marshal Munir and other Pakistani officials.
During the visit, the Jordanian king received a briefing on GIDS’s organisational structure, capabilities, and product portfolio. The ISPR said the briefing highlighted Pakistan’s advances in indigenous defence production, technological innovation, and potential avenues for bilateral co-operation.
Later, at the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, King Abdullah was joined by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s Defence Industry Minister Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev. There, the delegation observed a joint military exercise showcasing conventional and air firepower, coordinated manoeuvres, and drone-supported operations.
The ISPR said the king “appreciated the high standards of training, professionalism, and operational capabilities” of the participating troops and aircrews.
Prime Minister Sharif praised the Jordanian king and his people, describing the visit as a reflection of “enduring friendship, mutual trust, and a shared desire for peace and development.”
The visit also included a ceremonial moment: King Abdullah conferred upon Field Marshal Munir the Order of Military Merit of the First Degree, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening military co-operation between the two nations.
The ISPR described the visit as “a significant milestone in reinforcing the historic bonds of fraternity and brotherhood” between Pakistan and Jordan.
