ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims at strengthening collaboration between the two organisations through information exchange, capacity building, and data sharing.

The signing took place at DataFest 2025, an event organised by PBS at the Pak-China Centre in Islamabad.

This agreement establishes a framework to facilitate the automated exchange of information, ensuring access to verified, first-hand data for analytical, statistical, and research purposes. This collaboration is designed to enhance evidence-based policy planning and decision-making while significantly improving the quality and timeliness of data used in national economic assessments.

Under the MoU, the parties will endeavour to share information and knowledge and explore possibilities for exchanging mutually agreed data sets. This will be achieved through digital platforms, including APIs, as well as traditional methods. All information shared under this agreement will support the execution of their respective mandates in accordance with applicable laws.

This partnership marks an important step toward improving data-driven decision-making in Pakistan's economic and regulatory landscape. For PBS, the collaboration will provide timely access to high-quality data, enabling more accurate national accounts and business statistics.

The MoU underscores the shared commitment of both institutions to deepen collaboration, enhance transparency, and advance digital transformation in pursuit of improved governance and economic intelligence.
