ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Friday issued directives to LPG companies via a public notice that they must stop the sale of LPG to illegal shops and decanters. The authority also directed the companies to conduct an inventory audit of distributors and eliminate substandard cylinders.
Various government forums, including Parliamentary Standing Committees, Federal and Provincial authorities, have repeatedly inquired about how the safe supply of LPG is being ensured across the country, especially in the densely populated urban areas of Punjab, and what measures are being taken to enforce safety standards.
It is a matter of concern that gas supply to illegal decanters in substandard cylinders is continuing from licensed filling plants.
In view of this situation, Director Ogra Lahore Region, in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad and the Director Civil Defence Punjab, formed joint enforcement teams for inspection in Faisalabad Division.
Officers from Ogra Lahore Region, the District Administration, and the Civil Defence Department conducted inspections at LPG plants in Faisalabad from September 29 to October 1, 2025.
Faisalabad is a busy industrial and commercial hub with high LPG consumption, and safety issues often become a focus for the public and the government.
