LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani here on Tuesday reiterated the Punjab government’s dedication to fulfilling the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, particularly in providing greater support to farmers and livestock farmers. He highlighted the achievement of the 16.3 million metric tons wheat cultivation target, which is expected to meet the province’s food requirements.

The government is also facilitating farmers by providing 35 types of agricultural equipment, including green tractors and laser land levellers, through a balloting process aimed at boosting crop production, the Minister added.

Punjab’s Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, emphasized the commitment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif towards enhancing support for farmers, cultivators, and livestock farmers. He stated that a series of initiatives are underway to promote and develop the livestock sector in alignment with the Punjab government’s policies. A key component of these efforts is the issuance of the Livestock Card, which will provide interest-free loans to livestock farmers.

Minister Kirmani made these remarks while presiding over a high-level meeting to review preparations for the inauguration of the Chief Minister’s Livestock Card in Pakpattan. The meeting was attended by various dignitaries, including MNA Mian Ahmed Raza Maneka, MPAs Chaudhry Javed Ahmed, Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar, Mian Farooq Ahmed Khan Maneka, and Mutia Masood Khalid. Senior government officials, such as Secretary of Livestock Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel, Deputy Commissioner Sadia Mehr, Director General Livestock, Additional Commissioner Khalid Gilani, and representatives from the Punjab Bank and other departments, were also present.

During the meeting, Minister Kirmani assigned specific responsibilities to officials to ensure smooth arrangements for the event, given the anticipated participation of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He stressed that all departments should collaborate under a well-coordinated strategy to ensure the success of the inauguration and address security concerns. He further emphasized that no lapses in arrangements would be tolerated.
