KARACHI: Gold prices on Tuesday shot up on the local market but silver stood firm, traders said. Gold gained Rs1600 to Rs221300 per tola and Rs1372 to Rs189729 per 10 grams. On the world market, gold prices stood for $2094 per ounce, which the local market adds on with a $20 premium on the local bullion trade.

Silver was available for Rs2680 per tola and Rs2297.66 per 10 grams. International silver price was quoted as $24.16 per ounce, traders said.
