LAHORE: Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Faisal Yousaf has said that the people of Punjab can now obtain their new learner driving license online using the PITB developed Driving License Issuance Management System (DLIMS 2.0).

He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting on Tuesday. During the meeting, it was highlighted that the process for citizens to apply for a new learner license has been simplified. “The people can initiate the application process by searching DLIMS on Google or entering the address dlims.punjab.gov.pk in the search bar. Subsequently, a form will open on the website. To create an account, citizen has to provide his name, identity card, and other required information. All members of a family can use the same account to obtain their learner licenses,” he added.

He said the license fee can be paid through any bank's online application, ATM machine or services like JazzCash, and upon payment, the learner driving license will be generated on the screen. The print or image of the license can be displayed to traffic wardens as needed, even through a mobile phone, he added.

Meanwhile, the e-Rozgaar Training Programme, an initiative of the PITB and Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Department, has started receiving applications for its next phase to provide online employment opportunities to the youth. As per the details shared by the PITB, the unemployed youth bearing Punjab domicile could submit applications for training in seven different fields, including technical, content marketing and advertising, creative designing and e-commerce. In order to secure admission in the said programme, the age limit is 35 years and the required educational qualification is masters.

It is pertinent to mention here that 45 e-Rozgaar Centres are operational across 36 districts of Punjab. More than 58,000 students, of which 57 percent are women, have earned more than Rs 8 billion through the internet after the completion of their training.
