LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed several identical petitions filed by Shahbaz and others seeking live broadcast of the court’s proceedings.
The court, however, asked the petitioners to approach the Supreme Court for their plea as the LHC lacks authority to issue a direction on this matter. The petitioner Shahbaz made the federal government and the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) as respondents in the petition. The petitioner said court proceedings were broadcast live in different countries including India. He also asked the court to allow lawyers of small cities to appear before the courts through video link. The court while dismissing the petitions observed that the prayer made is inadmissible.
