EU 2023/24 soft wheat exports down

PARIS: Soft wheat exports from the European Union so far in the 2023/24 season had reached 3.72 million metric tons by Aug. 13, down 11%from 4.19 million a year earlier, data published by the European Commission showed on Wednesday.

EU barley exports totalled 1.20 million tons, down 27% from 1.63 million tons in the corresponding period in 2022/23, while EU maize imports were at 1.82 million tons, 31% below a year-earlier 2.62 million.

The weekly figures were released a day later than usual due to Tuesday’s public holiday in parts of Europe. The figures are for the marketing year starting on July 1.
