Two terrorists killed in North Waziristan: ISPR

  • In a separate incident, a soldier embraces martyrdom in an attack on a polio team

Two terrorists were killed by security forces during an intelligence-based operation (IBOs) in the general area of North Waziristan’s Dossali, the military’s media affairs wing said on Wednesday.

In a press release, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was initiated based on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.

During the operation, a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued between the security forces and the terrorists, ultimately resulting in the elimination of two terrorists, the ISPR stated.

The slain terrorists were found to possess weapons and ammunition, indicating their active involvement in carrying out terrorist activities against security personnel and causing harm to innocent civilians.

“Efforts are currently underway to cleanse the area of any remaining terrorists, with a focus on eradicating the terrorist threat entirely. The local residents have shown their appreciation for the operation, demonstrating their unwavering support in the fight against terrorism,” the statement added.

In a separate incident, a soldier was martyred and another was injured after terrorists opened fire on security forces guarding a polio vaccination team in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan district.

According to the ISPR, the terrorists attempted to disrupt the ongoing polio campaign by firing on the members of the polio team in Spinwam.

The statement added that security forces deputed to provide protection to the polio worker effectively engaged the terrorists, ensuring the safety of all members and extricating them unharmed.

“During the ensuing fire exchange between security forces and the terrorists, Sepoy Saqib Ur Rehman (age 25 years, resident of District Mardan) sacrificed his life in the line of duty, embracing Shahadat [martyrdom],” the ISPR said.

It added that sanitization of the area was being carried out following the attack to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.
