LAHORE: Punjab Local Government Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal on Wednesday issued instructions to all local government departments for timely arrangements of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

As per the details shared by the local government and community development department on Wednesday, all the metropolitans, municipal corporation, municipal committees, administrators and chief officers of tehsil and town committees have been asked to immediately remove building debris and encroachments on the roads for the processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi across the province.

They have been further directed to complete the patchwork of roads and also ensure the installation of street lights and searchlights on the routes of the processions. The secretary also asked them to ensure sanitation and cleanliness on a daily basis with strict observance of Coronavirus SOPs besides making other necessary arrangements with the consultation of organisers.

Meanwhile, District Commissioner Lahore Omar Sher Chattha held a meeting with the procession organisers to review the arrangements which was attended by Ulema-e-Ikram, members of the peace committee and officials from concerned departments.

While addressing the meeting, the DC said that the processions on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal will be monitored from the control room. “Two main processions will be taken out on the day: the first one will start in the morning from the Railway Station to Data Darbar, and the second one will be taken out in the evening from Delhi Gate to Data Darbar,” he added.
